Behind every dish is a story — and Mizz Ruth’s begins with family, faith, and a calling to serve.
Raised in Detroit and guided by the hands of her mother and grandmother, Mizz Ruth was taught that food is an expression of love. But it was her brother Daniel — a beloved community minister and cook — who deepened that understanding. For years, Daniel served meals to neighbors with grace and generosity, feeding not only their bodies but also their spirits.
He passed those values on to his sister, teaching her that cooking was a ministry in itself. Mizz Ruth now continues that legacy — preparing meals that heal, connect, and uplift. As a mother, a caregiver, and a woman of deep faith, she believes food should bring people together and move them forward.
Today, Mizz Ruth’s Grill is a growing force in Detroit’s wellness and food scene, committed to serving healthy soul food with purpose, passion, and pride — one neighborhood at a time.
